I am writing a poem, but it is more about what I know has changed about me (for example I can write really deep poems:) and just in general how IB has changed me, a little too poetic probably....)
Who was I before you
Who am I now after you
Does it matter that I was a tortured and lonely soul
Or can it be that after your presence, my place in this world seems to be gifted
So many opportunities have knocked on the door
Not one seemingly wasted
I was hallow, emptiness in my world
Suddenly with all of your surprises, excitement overflows
There is no moment in vain
All of my happiness lies in the service of others
Creativity breeds, actions prevail
Throughout life I searched for one thing and it seems to finally appear
A new being
Who was I before
I was a soul
Now, with anticipation riveting through my bones
I am and I B the new form of benediction

Dude I love this poem like it was really good. It has this really nice flow to it even without there being a rhyming pattern. That last line is amazing too, although as I typed that I realized there's a lot of other parts that I also really like so I dunno which I like the best? I definitely agree with the whole theme of change especially in relation to IB.
ReplyDelete(Too many feels while reading your poem... T.T)
ReplyDeleteI really like the poem's theme as it demonstrates the change that was made by IB, for which all IB students can relate to. I can see that as you were looking back when we first joined IB, you realized you have changed so much. Now, it's almost time for us to part our ways, I notice that we are similar in many ways since we were together for 2 years. I hope the change developed in you will continue to grow with you as time passes, and it will always remind you of the time you spent in IB! moehehe (*x*)
Wow great poem!! I think this poem was a very powerful and creative way to reflect back on your experience throughout high school and the IB program. What is super cool about this poem is that you were just describing your own experience and change but I feel like all IB students that read this will be able to connect to it personally as well. I think IB was able to form this deeper connection between the students as we all go through the same hardships. We have all struggled through these difficult times, but now we are almost done and it's the greatest feeling! I agree that the IB program has brought on a lot of beneficial change, and I'm glad I was able to experience all of it with you in the classes we've had together throughout the years. (:
